Definitely the 1st one.. you get the idea of what's surrounding the couple.. in the second one we kind lose that whole idea of the funfair.. great composition either way!
We could never had a snake like that around our neck :P

It's at Coney Island - they were promoting the side show.

I like the top one best. The two figures' rectangular space within the larger similar rectangle makes a better, more powerful composition - they seem to need the larger space to project into... and the sinuous body of the woman with the snake twining around enhances her expression and statuesque "majesty".

Thanks, it brightened my morning to see this.

Definitely the first one, b/c it frames the two people better.

This is an awesome pic!

I don't *think* so... maybe when I was really really little, but I'm betting what I'm thinking of was actually Playland.

the first photograph

The first. While the pointing finger in the background is interesting, it's not the main focus. I love that you caught her looking at you with that little smirk. Awesome shot!!!

Despite popular opinion, I prefer the second (rectangle) crop.

i prefer the 1st one b/c the look on the woman's face is more intriguing with the snake wrapping itself around her waist

The first one without a doubt. It's great to really see the snake wrapping around her body like that. The second one is nice, but not if you've seen the first, you really know that something is missing.
