I would go with option 2 because it has many interesting lines that attract your eye that #1 is missing

I like #1.

2 has the classical elements that offer assurances of "values" that seem to be becoming subsumed by graffiti, it says to me that another barbarian invasion is occurring, but that our classical institutions persevere, our core values remain. Yaada yaada yaada! (I find symmetry annoying.)

1, on the other hand, is a more interesting composition and is devoid of the classical references and their promises, and is more characteristic of the hard, uninviting face of reality and keeping people locked out that is America today. It almost looks like a nightmare. The barbarity resides within the door, the graffiti is protest at being locked out and disenfranchised. (It looks like a Basquiat.) It's beautiful.

I think graffiti is a shout in the darkness, and I think #1 best reveals that and the reasons for it.

Number one made me cry. I don't know why. But, wow!

I prefer the first, as well. It has a darker, more dramatic quality.

Hmm, I don’t like how 2 is shadowy in the bottom, but I find the small bit of brick wall with graffiti on the right in number one to be slightly distracting. Like, I want more or less. Hmm, hard to chose though. I think I might like to see what else you might pair it with in your samples.

ooh number 1 is similar to a photo i posted recently of graffiti in a bathroom.

i think i personally prefer number 1, but then i keep thinking number two is better technically.

Between the two of them we prefer #1.. it seems a good choice mostly because of the colours of the graffiti; in #2 our eyes kind of wander out for more.. we also agree with :sbgrl:.. you should try and see what else you have in your samples.. for instance the ones that you took in Coney Island were very interesting and could be a good thing as well.

The first one appeals to me most. It is somehow wilder, unpredictable (colours and textures). I'm another one who usually doesn't feel comfy with simmetry. ^_^ Fantastic pictures, by the way.
